Vector Art is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines and curves which are all based on mathematical equations to represent images in Illustrator and other Vector based graphics programs.
That's too technical you say! All you want to know is, will my graphics be acceptable at a large size when I print them? Or, how will they look if scaled 200%? No problem, the best way to know if your files will reproduce at a larger size, say, for a Poster or a banner that you may need printed is to open your file in Adobe Illustrator and check your links palette. If you do not see anything linked or embedded in that palette you are on your way! If you do have links then you may have a problem when you decide to go big with that file. Make sure that you check the resolution of those linked images before proceeding.
If all you have in your file is points, lines and curves you can feel very confident that you file only contains vector art. With that said, your file has the ability to be scaled infinitely without the loss of quality. So when your vendor requests vector art you now know what to look for!
